Per capita income in the country rose to over Rs 54,000 in 2010-11 from Rs 18,450 in 2001-02, Parliament was informed today.
"The per capita income at current prices has registered an annual average growth rate of about 12.8 per cent during the (2001-02 to 2010-11) period," minister of state for planning Ashwani Kumar said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.
He said the per capita as measured by net national income stood at an advance estimate of Rs 54,527 in 2010-11, up from estimate of Rs 46,492 in 2009-10.
